Sport and sustainability: the partnership between Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna and Juventus continues with the assessment of the environmental benefits of the “Road to Allianz Stadium” pilot project involving Juventus, the mayor of Turin and GTT

The SuM - Sustainability Management Laboratory of the Institute of Management, with a research group coordinated by Prof. Tiberio Daddi, analysed the environmental impact of the “Road to Allianz Stadium” pilot project involving Juventus, the City of Turin and GTT (Turin's public transport company).
For the Serie A match between Juventus and Monza on 27 April, fans under the age of 30 were offered a free day ticket for local public transport, which could be used unlimitedly on the GTT urban and suburban network, including the underground. Many fans travelled by public transport, helping to reduce the environmental impact of travel to the stadium.
The results analysed by the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies estimated that, thanks to the test carried out on 27 April, CO₂ emissions equivalent to those absorbed in one year by 436 trees were avoided (estimate made considering a baseline defined by a questionnaire survey on fan mobility carried out in 2025. Calculations were made using the LCA methodology with SimaPro software and the Ecoinvent 3.10 database, DEFRA 2024 data and national emission factors processed by ISPRA. Source of tree absorption data: Life EFFIGE project, according to which a tree absorbs an average of 7.5 kg of CO₂ per year). This is a very positive figure, confirming the validity of the initiative and demonstrating that it is a solution to the challenge of fan mobility, which accounts for between 50% and 70% of a sports club's total emissions.
Road to Allianz Stadium: the experiment continues for Juventus-Udinese
The “Road to Allianz Stadium” project returns for Juventus' last home game, scheduled for Sunday 18 May at 8.45 p.m. against Udinese. Once again, under-30s with a valid ticket for the match will be able to take advantage of a free day pass for all local public transport, valid on the day of the match.
GTT will increase the number of buses connecting the centre of Turin with the Allianz Stadium, prioritising the use of electric buses in line with the green aims of the initiative.

The collaboration between Juventus and Scuola Sant'Anna
The collaboration between Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna and Juventus has been going on for three years and aims to find shared solutions to improve environmental sustainability. Tiberio Daddi's research group has supported the Bianconeri club in quantifying its Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions and its environmental footprint using scientific and established methods. All these actions are moving towards a new environmental management of professional football and the development of different actions aimed at the sustainability of this sector, such as waste management, supporter mobility, energy consumption generated by matches and stadium management.
